Learn More About EPEC
EPEC was created to excite young golfers with authentic products that perform and give the young golfer never before seen personalization and customization for their set.
We know our products cost a bit more upfront than some other competitive products. However as your young golfer grows we know you will feel good about using our unique upgrade process, saving up to 40% when compared to buying new sets every year.
Young golfers grow at an average of 3″ per year. It’s easy to see how it is difficult and costly for most families to continually buy new sets of clubs.
Golf clubs have a life span of several years. Young golfers never get close to using a golf club to the point of wearing it out or compromising its performance. Until EPEC, clubs were replaced often due to sizing and weighting, not because they were worn out. EPEC uses weight inserts to allow the iron heads to be upgraded (made heavier). When longer shafts are required, EPEC has a re-shafting service that is made possible through a partnership with FedEX. This re-shafting service is available for a fraction of the cost of a new replacement club.
Upgrading the Woods is a little different because weighting in the woods is addressed by increasing the head sizes. Woods are available in three different groups of sizes and lofts. These wood groups specifically address performance, by reducing loft as the young golfer increases in strength. As strength increases so will club head speed promoting the need for less loft and more forgiveness.
These wood groups correspond with the EPEC sizing chart and need to be matched to the height of the young golfer to achieve the correct performance for these clubs.
Upgrade costs are driven by what needs to be changed each year to make sure the young golfer has the best opportunity for success by making sure that the equipment is keeping up with their growth changes. There are three types of upgrades a young golfer will encounter in the EPEC system. The first and most obvious upgrade is the need for additional shaft length. In the past other junior equipment companies have tried to alter the shaft by extending it. We at EPEC have partnered with FedEx to help get your young golfer’s clubs back to us for re-shafting where a new shaft and new grip will be installed each time a young golfer grows into the next growth category. Each re-shaft costs $15 per club. This upgrade will need to happen every 12-18 months.
The second upgrade is the weight insert in the irons. As a young golfer grows they also need the clubs to increase in head weight. EPEC offers iron head weight changes for $5 per club installed at the same time the shafts are being upgraded. Weight inserts are only changed during size changes from: 2 to 3, 4 to 5, 6 to 7.
The third upgrade deals exclusively with the Driver, Fairway, and Hybrid. During two specific upgrades we strongly recommend changing the club heads to larger versions with reduced lofts. In order to maintain the high performance of the EPEC set design, physically stronger young golfers require more forgiveness and reduced loft as their club head speed increases. This change allows the young golfer to maximize distance as their strength increases. The wood group upgrades are made during the upgrade process from sizes: 2 to3, and 6 to 7. This upgrade requires wood group replacement and has different costs depending on how many clubs are effected. Ex: (Driver and Hybrid upgrade $84.99) or (Driver, Fairway, and Hybrid for $124.99)
We will message you about upcoming upgrades with the EPEC automated messaging system. Don’t worry, your information is safe with us and we will not abuse it. We value you as a customer and we know that an annual reminder to update your young golfer’s profile is not intrusive. We also know that when you update the profile each year our EPEC system can help your young golfer enjoy the game more because their equipment allows for proper development and encourages their success. Remember, we are all in this together. Below are the sizing charts that will help illustrate the EPEC system and how it works.

Skill Based Set Composition and growth plan / skill based upgrades
Sometimes the hardest part about supporting your young golfer is deciding what clubs to put in their bag. Here is some guidance from a Dad and Golf Professional on Set Make Up.
Young golfers can be grouped into 3 skill level groups.
Beginner-having little to no golf experience, but excited to learn. This group needs to find success quickly to avoid being discouraged. The best way to describe success for this group is that they are able to get the ball airborne easily. Beginner set make up recommendation would be: Driver, Hybrid, 7 Iron, 9 Iron, and Putter.
Intermediate-has some experience and plays recreationally. This group needs each club to have a specific distance it will deliver. As a young golfer’s skill increases, clubs that deliver more specific distances are required. Intermediate set make up recommendation would be: Driver, Hybrid, 5 Iron, 7 Iron, 8 Iron, 9 Iron, Pitching Wedge, and Putter.
Advanced- plays frequently and sometimes competitively. This group needs to have clubs to perform the full spectrum of yardages. Their skill level has grown to the point where clubs should complement the types of shots they are trying to hit. Advanced set make up recommendation would be: Driver, Fairway Wood, Hybrid, 6 Iron, 7 Iron, 8 Iron, 9 Iron, Pitching Wedge, Sand Wedge and Putter.
*Gap Wedge is not currently available. 5 Iron must be purchased separately.
